I imagine “The Principality”, a land ruled by a wise, compassionate and brave Princess. And I imagine that such a principality would be a leading force in international diplomacy. Accordingly, The Principality must have a state of the art airship with large meeting rooms (in which to peruse the cause of peace & understanding), state rooms, dining facilities, and, of course, multiple steam engines to propel it to those parts of the world where such diplomatic services were required.

Then, I made it.

This wall hanging sculpture measures 12in x 10in x 2in (he outer dimensions of the frame). The airship itself is 5 3/4 inches long. It has two doors that open and (including the doors) 8 movable parts: you can open the passenger compartment door (revealing the spiral staircase), you can open the engine room door, you can turn two of the gears inside the engine room, you can spin all three of the propellers and the flag “waives”.

The sculpture is made of pewter, brass, bonze & nickel silver. The frame is made of steel, brass, wood & matting.
